Write Like No One Is Reading You
Why I am reclaiming this space for me.
It’s been a pretty long time since my last confession. I mean article. And I have had a pretty good reason.
Why?
The powers that be got rid of the ability to use the Medium app to write.
It was the main way I wrote on this platform. As a stay-at-home mom who also homeschools, writing on a computer was basically impossible. In terms of finding time and not feeling like I was taking time away from my daughter, using anything other than my phone was a non-starter. I don’t even own a computer anymore.
It was freeing, though, to spend all my time on my family and my pets. Just living in the moment. I didn’t write for a long time between my daughter’s birth and my dad’s death. I didn’t write much during the pandemic. In both cases of having writing dry spells, I liked having a non-writing existence.
In fact, it was his passing and my coping with that grief from it that introduced me to Medium.
I had downloaded the app randomly, and having lots of emotions I needed to deal with, and writing being a major way that I process things, it was the easiest way to share.
